analysis of Digipak

The purpose of a Digipak to promote the album and give the content of what will be included within the Digipak. The Digipak is not only to attract fans but it can be used to attract a wider audience. It also allows the artist to use a range of colours and pictures to express their album which gives their target audience to understand the vibe of the songs and albums. A CD album only haves the CD, front cover on the song promoting the song and the list of songs that are included on the album. A Digipak has three other slides that have other images to promote the artists, album and song. It allows the audience to understand more about the artist.

The artist is represented in this digipak by the bright colours as he normally uses strobe lighting when he is Dj'ing at a club. This is conventional to the artist as it shows that his music is going to be upbeat and vibrant for the club setting. The connotations of the digipak are to make sure that the artist stands out with the colourful theme that he is using. He stands out as his picture is in black and white and the music on his album is in bright colours, which makes his music seem to stand out more than him. The colours makes the artist and his music stand out as he is in black and white, which shows that he is original when playing his music, but then the music is in bright yellow and red colours which makes his music seem that it is positive and dance based. The design of the digipak is simple as it has a contrast on his face as it is in black and white, which shows that he is old fashioned but his music is new. His music slide is plain so the audience can clearly see what is on the CD. the audience can easily identify what music is on the album. The image that he has used for himself makes him look like he is Superior and that he is dressed for when he is in a club scene as he is wearing sun glasses to protect him from the strobe lights to help him concentrate while in the club. The type os typography that has been used is his own logo for the writing for his name, but for the name of the album different street writing has been used to make the name of the album and song stands out. The style of language that has been used is simple to make the audience be able to understand what is on the CD and what the album is called.


















The digipak promotes the music genre as it has the bright colours that are normally used for strobe lighting are used for the album. The artists look dark and mysterious that makes the audience want to know more about the artist, which will make them attracted to him. This will help me while creating my own digipak as i will want to include reference to the artists as this would make the audience more attracted to the song. I would want to include colours and designs that we have used for our music video. This analysis has allowed me to understand how important colours and imageries on the digipak. This will aid me in making my own digpak as i can carry forward the ideas taken by this artist.
